Play Safe

Kannada nameboardsQ: What would you do when you desperately want to avoid sure trouble?

A: Play safe of course!

While I find some kind of protection (lower taxes?) to the Kannada film industry acceptable (I don’t think people who don’t want to watch Kannada movies will start to – unless the movies themselves are good), tying this to “the betterment of Kannada” is when it starts to lose credibility.

Excerpt from here:

It was also resolved that by December 10, Brigade Road should be renamed as Basavanna Road and Commercial Street should be renamed as Mysore Huli Tippu Sultan Road.

Now, I’m no authority, but shouldn’t they be Basavanna Raste and Mysore Huli Tippu Sultan Raste?

Hahaha. Am waiting to see the signboards on those roads. :-))

I didn’t like the way Gauri Lankesh and Nanje Gowda were snubbed. There is not even some kind of tolerance to dissent. The way the Kannada film industry is behaving is ridiculous.
But then, there is also a point in what the industry says. If there are no Kannada movies screened anywhere, how will people see it and how will they like it if they don’t see it?
